Residents make pets welcome Lots of residents have dogs in this very pet-friendly area. The dogs love the beaches in St James and Kalk Bay which are 30 minutes drive from Cape Town. There are lovely walks to enjoy with your dogs in the Table Mountain National Park which is above the houses. The view […]
My friend’s dog died so she found a new pet to share her home in Kalk Bay. The pig walks on a lead around Kalk Bay village with my friend.
Did not get a photo of the whale but see rescue at http://www.nsri.org.za/2014/03/sa-whale-disentanglement-network-false-bay/ At dawn the next day there was a fishingboat in the same vicinity fetching the net. The whales are not seen until June so this was an early visitor.
It was a perfect sunny winter’s day in Kalk Bay. We went with Chad in his boat to see Seal Island. It was very exciting to see whales from the ocean on our way to Seal Island. There are hundreds of seals in and out of the water. Plenty of food for sharks. The […]
This morning Yvonne and I met in Kalk Bay to cycle towards Cape Point. We managed to cycle off road to avoid the traffic. It was a sunny morning, but with wind. We had only cycled to Glencairn when the wind was so strong that we regretfully decided to return and console ourselves with coffee […]

After a week of stormy weather, Midwinter 22 June was a sunny morning. We loaded the bikes and drove to Simons Town to meet a friend for breakfast at the False Bay Yacht Club. After a delicious breakfast, the sun was still shining and there was no wind so we drove for 20 minutes, along […]
The Cape Town MG Car Club organises delightful trips to scenic regions of the Cape. In October 2007 the destination was Oudtshoorn. We took the N1 over the mountains to Worcester and turned off to Montague. The R62 from Montague is a quiet back road to Oudtshoorn. The Klein Karoo scenery is different from the […]
Yesterday I prepared my road bike for a cycle to Cape Point today. Too bad that, this morning in the dark, I decided that the list of my unattended email was just too long to ignore. So my friends enjoyed a fantastic sunny, wind-free ride. When the emails were nearly finished I walked down the […]
My guest at lunch today, whose family have been in Kalk Bay/St James for 123 years, was so excited to see from our dining table the ALBINO whale and her baby (also albino) in the bay. He said that 50 years ago there was one whale who came every year and they called her Wendy. […]
